Sugar Scrubs

Ok. It’s the middle of winter in Colorado and I feel like I’m turning into an alligator!! Look! You can see the transformation happening!

This stops, and it stops now! Time to make some sugar scrub 🙂

This process is ridiculously easy. You just need coconut oil, sugar and your imagination. The scent combinations are endless but here are two of my favorites.

First, brown sugar vanilla! Who doesn’t love this combination of scents?! Ever since I discovered it at Bath & Bodyworks years ago, it has been my go to for bath gel, body butter, body spray, sugar scrub… Everything!

For this, you will need:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 regular sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract

Put all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix until evenly distributed.

Be warned! Your kitchen will suddenly smell like cookies and your husband may suddenly appear to see what you’re cooking 😁 So delicious! Hopefully it has the same effect on him when you use it on yourself…😘

Let’s give this stuff a try (please ignore my desperate need of a manicure)

  Ahhh! That’s better!!!

Now, onto the Grapefruit sugar scrub! I am so ready for spring to be here so I decided to urge it on by making the bright and fruity scrub 🙂

You will need:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 4 Tbsp grapefruit juice, plus zest of whole grapefruit (if you happen to have grapefruit essential oil, use it instead of the juice for more potent scent and longer shelf life)

I like to mix the sugar, oil and zest together first, before adding the juice, to keep the sugar from dissolving.

These scrubs are great for dry hands, elbows, feet and even better shaving your legs before you get out of the shower! Just don’t let water get in the container or all the sugar will dissolve… learned that the hard way 🙁

Let me know what flavor combinations you come up with! Enjoy!

  1. This looks wonderful! I made a lemon zest sugar scrub last year to give as Christmas gifts… I will definitely be making it again next winter. I love things like this! Thanks for sharing 🙂
